Sermon Synopsis – December 8th 2024
Luke 1:68-79
As we light the second Advent candle, the candle of Peace, we reflect on The Promise of Compassion, rooted in God’s tender mercy and fulfilled in the birth of Jesus. Advent reminds us of the hope, love, joy, and peace Christ brings,
calling us to embody His compassion.
Zechariah’s song in Luke 1:78–79 praises God’s tender mercy, revealed in Jesus, who brings light to darkness and leads us toward peace. Jesus’ life exemplified compassion through His forgiveness, healing, and acts of grace, even at
personal cost. From feeding the hungry to forgiving the broken, His compassion saw people’s deepest needs and responded with transformative love.
The parable of the Good Samaritan challenges us to show compassion that crosses barriers. This Advent, may we reflect Christ’s tender mercy in our lives, sharing His love and peace through small, faithful acts of care and kindness.
