Not out of Selfish Ambition
Steven Chung
Sermon Synopsis – January 21st 2024
Philippians 2:1-11
In light of Christian unity, pastors of this community join together in the ecumenical group to seek how to love, and to serve our community.
What are our interests? Do we surrender our interests to God and ask for His will, here on earth as it is in heaven? This is a lifelong challenge of any Christian to ask God what do you want instead of what do I want. Even when we feel
tired, as if we are dying, or when we are trying to humble ourselves. Because of Jesus, we can rise, resurrect, get back up and try again. Instead of looking at the world through our eyes, God is telling us to look at the world with His eyes.
Sometimes we don’t know what we’re doing here – in Church, in this job, in this relationship. We need to hear God ask us what we are doing in order to take a look at the situation. We need to stand before God and be reminded that it’s not about us, but about God’s will and purpose accomplished through us for God’s glory.
