Nov. 6, 2024
What a glorious day it was yesterday. I could not get over the fact that in November we reached 24 degrees Celsius. I was actually walking Miss E. in a tee shirt. Wish every day would be like this one throughout the winter. The downside to yesterday was the wind and the fact that leaves from down the street were blowing onto my lawn as it was being mowed. It was really quite funny. 2 minutes after mulching the leaves, you never would have known it as a new batch of leaves took over all the empty spots.
One good part of yesterday was bible study which was led by Kathy T. We watched episode 7 of season 4 of The Chosen and some of us were moved to tears. This episode dealt with Lazarus being raised from the dead. The creators of this series were spot on with this. We read the related scripture after the viewing, and it was exactly as presented on the screen. The creators of this series have brought the New Testament to life and have given us a realistic glimpse into what life was like back then. If you have not seen it yet, I cannot recommend it enough. It is must-see. The app is free, and you will not be disappointed.
Speaking of falling leaves here is a quote I found: “Autumn leaves don’t fall, they fly. They take their time and wander on this their only chance to soar.” “The trees are about to show us how lovely it is to let the dead things go.” “A fallen leaf is nothing more than a summer’s wave goodbye.”
The bible says: Isaiah 6:13
“Like an oak, whose substance is in them, when they cast their leaves”. This verse conveys that even after the leaves have fallen, the life remains in the tree.
The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever
Thanksgiving Food/Cash Drive
Outreach would like to thank everyone who donated food items or monetary donations for our Thanksgiving drive. We were able to take a wheelbarrow full of canned soups and canned vegetables to the St James Food Basket. As well, we received $646 in monetary donations which will be sent to the Food Basket. Your generosity is greatly appreciated by the client families and is a wonderful way to demonstrate our church’s pillar of “Serving Together”.
