Minister’s Message
Minister’s Message – April 21, 2026
From Hollow Pursuits to the True Light of Hope Dear Graceview Family, As we transition into a new season of ministry together, I find myself reflecting on our unique identity as children of God. In a world that often feels heavy or disconnected, we are called to be the “light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). But what does that light actually look like in our daily interactions? Lately, I have been struck by the amount of darkness hidden behind the…
Minister’s Message / Annual Report 2025
Dear Graceview Family, This year marks 25 years since Graceview’s formation through amalgamation — a silver jubilee of shared faith, worship, and service. Though our building has stood since 1960, it is the steadfast devotion of our congregation that has truly sustained God’s work here. Our ministry this year shows a congregation that is steady, resilient, and anchored in Christ. Worship remains reverent and spiritually enriching, and our care for one another continues unabated. Even amid the challenges facing mainline churches across Canada,…

When the Bells Ring: A Renewed Hope for the City As this year draws toward its close, I find my heart lingering on a moment of grace God provided for me earlier this month—one that arrived at just the right time. I had the privilege of being invited by the Canadian Bible Society to the 25th Anniversary Bells on Bay Street breakfast worship event at the Fairmont Royal York. The gathering began at 7 a.m. on a snowy Toronto morning,…
November 1, 2025 – Minister’s Message
By coincidence, I ran into the worship service of our renting congregation, the United Church of God (UCG), right here in our sanctuary. It was Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, and I noticed the many cars parked outside. Out of curiosity, I stepped in and was able to witness their service firsthand. Now, here’s a fun fact: I actually happened to be born on Yom Kippur according to the Jewish calendar! Perhaps that means I should have an extra…

Hallelujah! What a joyful day at Graceview! We celebrated the baptism of our new members, witnessing God’s amazing grace and the transforming power of faith in Jesus Christ. It was truly moving to see lives renewed and hearts opened to eternal salvation. Afterward, our potluck fellowship lunch brought everyone together with an abundance of dishes from many cultures — a delicious reminder of the love and unity we share as one family in Christ. I thank God for orchestrating such a beautiful day of…
September 1, 2025 – Minister’s Message
This past August, I was given the privilege of being one of the selected scholars to participate in the annual Guder Scholars gathering at St. Andrew’s Hall, University of British Columbia. This year’s event, which centred around missional leadership and discernment, brought together pastors from across Canada, along with some from the United States and other traditions beyond the Presbyterian Church. It was a four-day immersion of prayer, learning, and conversation that became one of the highlights of my summer.…
April 29, 2025 – Minister’s Message
This was my second time returning to Guatemala for a mission trip, with my first being in 2019. Though the destination was the same, the journey felt fresh, stirring, and deeply personal in new ways. One thing that stood out right from the beginning was the rare blessing of having four pastors on the same trip—a lot of leadership, maybe a bit too much! But truthfully, it created a beautiful harmony, where we learned to share the burden and joy…

Are you ready for a journey? In the Christian tradition, the season of Lent is a journey over forty days (not including Sundays) towards the pivotal events of Jesus’ final days of his earthly ministry we call Holy Week. It is a time of thoughtful reflection and practice for those who seek to love and follow Jesus in the world today. The exciting thing is this Lenten journey is not one we make alone. Rather, we do so in the…
Minister’s Message- March / April
What a winter it has been! With the multiple snowstorms we’ve been gifted with lately, it’s hard not to marvel at the beauty and power of God’s creation. As we take in the wonder of nature, let us also turn our hearts to something even more wonderful – the Holy Scripture. Just as the snow blankets the earth, may God’s Word cover our lives with wisdom and truth. I want to share with you an epiphany I received from the…
