June 3, 2026
Well it seems that we have gotten a reprieve from the rainy weather. While not terribly hot yet, it has been very comfortable the last few days. This has given me lots of time to attend to tasks outside that needed doing. The first big task was power washing the back patio and the deck surrounding the pool. It is a messy task and has not been done for many years. So, I marked off a small area every day and got to it. Now, to my eye it only seemed that certain areas needed to be cleaned, but much to my dismay, once I started, I realized that even the clean areas needed attention. This made the job so much larger. I figure that if I keep on this way, I should be done by the end of June. However, despite my grumblings, I did find great satisfaction in seeing how lovely the stones look once unencumbered by mold and dirt and grime.
It brings to mind Isaiah’s Beauty for the Ashes.
A prophetic promise where God takes the ruined, burned-out ashes of our lives—often the grime of grief, mistakes, or tragedy—and beautifully exchanges them for a “crown of beauty”.

“To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory.”
(Isaiah 61:3):

God knows the beauty that lies within us all, even when the exterior may not be so beautiful. May we all strive to find the beauty that lies within everything. As for me, I will continue to power wash and to reveal the beauty that lies under all of that grime.

NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Communion Sunday – June 7

This is a reminder that we will be celebrating Holy Communion on Sunday, June 7. All are welcome to the Lord’s Table. Communion will be served by intinction.

Missing

I seems that we are missing one advent banner and the tube in which it is stored. The ladies who were
working in the church changing the décor from Easter to spring/summer, last week, searched high and low in every conceivable cupboard and drawer and could not find it anywhere. It is a red banner that usually hangs in the hallway during Advent/Christmas. The tube may or may not be labelled correctly. If you have any idea where it was stored or where it can be, please let Susan or Kathy know as we would hate for one banner to be permanently gone.

Common Scents

Please be advised that our church has a scent-free protocol. It seems that some of our dear parishioners feel unwell due to heavy floral smells. Please be considerate of those in our congregation who are affected by strong smells and odors and refrain from perfumes or colognes when coming to worship on Sunday mornings.
Thank you one and all.

Coffee Sign-Up

June 7 – Susan & Kathy

Please note: Effective June 14 we will be serving lemonade at the Fellowship time after worship. If you are so inclined to donate a box or 2 of cookies to help cover the summer months, it would be very much appreciated.
Please give your donations to Kathy or Susan so that we can store them safely during the summer months.

September Bible Study

Jacob Birch from the Canadian Bible Society will be leading an 8-week bible study beginning on Tuesday, September 22 at 12:15. He will be offering an overview of the bible from Genesis all the way to Revelations.
